Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmtullahi wa Barakatuh

Dear MSA Members,

The earthquake in Haiti has sadly cost the life of many of our brothers and sisters in humanity. It has also put millions more in a much more straitened situation then they were already in prior to the earthquake.

As we may know, Haiti is one of the world’s poorest and underdeveloped countries, therefore our smallest efforts to help them in any way, whether monetarily by contributing some money, physically by volunteering at organizations that are helping with the situation in Haiti, or even spiritually by making dua to Allah to bring about Guidance, peace and tranquility in that nation will certainly make a difference.
Allah  has blessed us with an infinite amount of blessings, and if we were to make the counting of the blessing of Allah upon us the very essence of our existence, it will be impossible to do so. As Allah says in the Holy Quran:

“And if you were to count the blessings of Allah, you will never be able to count them” (AlQuran 14:34)

Therefore, I humbly request my brothers and sisters in Islam to thank Allah abundantly for the favors He has bestowed upon us, and at the same time help those who are less fortunate then us to the best of our ability.

The MSA at UTSC will be collecting funds to assist those in Haiti who have been affected by this tragic event. We will make an effort to collect money everyday after maghrib salah throughout this week, and on Friday January 22nd (next friday), we will collect money after Salat-ul-Jum’uah. All those who can contribute generously please do so; may Allah accept your contributions.

I ask Allah to grant us all the ability to be concerned of the affairs of the Ummah, and to do good at all times till we part from this world.

Wassalamu Alaikum
